Here are some highlights from my personal and professional life. One consistency is my love of learning.
It’s never too late to learn something new, and why not?
- I was born in Antigua, West Indies and immigrated to the United States to Boston, Massachusetts.
- I attended Syracuse University for my undergraduate in Mathematics and Georgia State University for both of my Master’s degrees.
- I’ve lived in three US regions: northeast, southeast and northwest.
- I took a professional hiatus to stay at home with my children when they were young.
- While at home, I self-studied art, figure drawing and ran a summer swim team for five years.
- I am a lifelong lover of education and learning that continues to today.
- I’ve got five things that I’m passionate about: education, watercolor painting, software engineering and artificial intelligence.
- And several hobbies that include hiking, cycling, photography, traveling and working on my 2002 BMW X5 (Bee).
With all these interests, I refuse to choose one and my goal is to do them all. I figure life is too short to spend not doing what I love.
From my professional life:
- I attended Amazon Technical Academy to train as a software engineer.
- I worked at Amazon as a software developer for two years.
- I’ve worked in IT for my professional career starting out on a Helpdesk then moving into project management, database administration and most recently software engineering.
- Along the way I picked and enjoy doing technical writing.
- I became a data annotator to learn about how AI works
- Most, recently, I’ve been taking courses on DataCamp and attended a Google Gen AI 5-Day Intensive for developers.
