Dissertation discuss as a part of science
The new idea is not just a change of perception of the object of study by strict substantiation is a qualitative leap of thought beyond the data perceived by the senses and proven solutions. New ideas can arise under the influence of paradoxical situations when an unusual, unexpected result is found that is too different from generally accepted provisions of science – paradigms. At the same time getting new ones knowledge follows the following scheme: paradigm – a paradox – a new paradigm. It is possible to claim that the development of science is a change of different paradigms, methods, stereotypes thinking. The transition from one paradigm to another cannot be logically described, because each of them rejects the previous one and carries a fundamentally new result of the study, which is not can be logically deduced from known theories.
A dissertation for a scientific degree is a qualifying scientific work performed in person in the form of a specially prepared manuscript or published scientific monograph. It contains scientifically substantiated theoretical or experimental results put forward by the author for public defense, scientific positions, characterized by the unity of content and testifies to the personal contribution of the applicant to science.
Themes of dissertations are connected, as a rule, with directions of the basic research works of scientific establishments and the organizations.
The dissertation is, firstly, a qualifying work, and secondly, work that contains a new solution to an important scientific problem or a specific one scientific task (candidate’s dissertation).
The dissertation is prepared by the author personally. New scientific results and provisions, placed in it, must pass a kind of exam during the public defense. The new solutions proposed by the applicant must be well reasoned and critically evaluated in comparison with the already known ones. In dissertations that have applied value, information on the practical application of the scientific results obtained by the author, and in dissertations of theoretical direction – recommendations for use of scientific conclusions.
Find out the difference between a dissertation and a monograph. The dissertation is a description of the scientific results obtained personally by the author. Monograph – a description of the results obtained in the study by both the applicant and other authors. The monograph may contain both new scientific results and known technical solutions.
Characteristic features of the form of presentation of the content of the dissertation are a high degree abstraction, active use of mathematical apparatus and means of logical thinking, as well as argumentation of judgments and accuracy of the data. Focusing on the readers whose professional training is the highest, the applicant must include in the text all available sign apparatus (formulas, graphs, charts, diagrams, tables, Latin and Greek symbols, etc.), all that is “language of science”, understandable only to specialists. The linguistic and stylistic design of the material should take into account the peculiarities of the scientific style of language, the main feature of which is the objectivity that follows from the specifics of scientific knowledge. It is necessary to concisely, logically and reasonably state the content and results of scientific research, avoid common words, unsubstantiated allegations, a tautology.
The title of the dissertation should be as short as possible, correspond to the chosen specialty and the essence of the solved scientific problem (task), indicate the purpose of the dissertation research and its completion.
These are the main typological characteristics of the dissertation as a special kind of scientific work. Writing dissertation is hard, but it`s an important part of science that`s can`t be replaced.
